Art Gallery of Ontario

In keeping with its mandate, the Art Gallery of Ontario cultivates and advances the cause of visual arts in Ontario, offers education and other programs on the origin, development, appreciation and techniques of the visual arts, and collects and exhibits art and displays. We were pleased when they approached us to edit, layout, and proofread a photo and text catalogue showcasing a prolific photographer — a major undertaking at well over 700 pages.

A Dummies© guide written with a real estate professional, this book tells you from start to finish how to make a home transition. Colborne Communications recruited an expert, wrote the book, and then edited and proofread it.

Digital Cement

Colborne supplies the web company Digital Cement with articles on small business, computers, and finance for their clients’ websites. Under exacting timelines we fully research the chosen topics, then tailor our writing to the specific audience addressed by each company.

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts

The international Four Seasons website is a long-term Colborne client. Colborne manages information for travellers through direct access on the Four Seasons web interface. Subject matter often includes descriptions of services offered by the hotels and resorts, local attractions, guest room and meeting room descriptions, recreation, and dining options complete with full menus. Our tasks for Four Seasons range from project management to writing, rewriting, updating, fact checking, editing, and copyediting.

Iguana Books

Colborne is responsible for setting up and running the Iguana Books imprint. This includes everything from assessing new manuscripts to estimating production costs, editing, layout and design, printing, e-file preparation, global distribution, promotion, and author relations. Colborne Communications is a full-service operation.

Insurance Institute of Canada

The Insurance Institute is the professional education arm of the general insurance industry in Canada. The national institute sets a curriculum, produces course textbooks, sets and marks three sets of national examinations, and awards two professional designations. When they decided to make changes to the curriculum and produce new course textbooks, they chose Colborne to do the writing.

"So you want to be funny?" begins our popular kids’ joke book. Full of the funniest and dumbest jokes around — not to mention comedian bios and a bit of comedy history — this one not only hit the stands running, but is a coveted item in school book fairs everywhere. Follow-up calendars seemed the best idea to pursue next. Colborne compiled and/or wrote all content.

Lemon-Aid Guides

Since 1982, Colborne Communications has edited the Lemon-Aid series of new and used car guides, and since 1995, we have provided a full range of production services. Working closely with an author who is an expert in his field, Colborne annually takes each edition through the editing, typesetting and layout, and proofreading stages. The resulting product is a best-selling favourite that zooms off the shelves every season.

Ontario Ministry of Environment and Energy

Colborne's ongoing project with the MOEE has been to review and structurally edit reports for the Environmental SWAT Team, a team that studies how various business sectors affect the health of our environment. Recently, we helped to create a writing template to promote clarity in future reports.
